Translated in Italian, Sono means “I am,” but it is also a moniker for the burgeoning neighborhood just off the Clybourn Corridor on Chicago’s Near North Side.

At McLean’s Sono Wood Fired, however, the name means a cozy wood-fired pizzeria, antipasti and wine bar with a serious focus on la famiglia, so that family and friends can share the flavors and spirited, sophisticated surroundings.

McLean states, “There are a lot of pizzas out there. Some are as thick as quiche, others are loaded with cheese, but I’m a fan of crust that’s crispy, chewy and made smoky when fired in a wood oven and topped with seasonal flavors.” Always partial to locally raised ingredients, McLean is one of the city’s many chef-champions of local farms, ranches and dairies. The menu at Sono Wood Fired will brightly highlight Midwest-raised ingredients.
